Mark Hura's Biography
Mark Hura, a 14-year veteran of the company, is the global Smart Grid Commercial Leader for GE Energy's Digital Energy business. Smart grid marries information and communication technology with our current electrical infrastructure to deliver real-time energy information and knowledge, empowering smarter energy choices
In his role, Mark is responsible for managing a diverse global organization that works closely with electric utility customers, policy makers and governments, strategic partners and industry organizations to deliver integrated smart grid solutions and implementations. Mark's international experience with utilities and policy makers offers a unique perspective on executing and delivering benefits of smarter grid solutions. Mark and his team are focused on helping GE customers' solve their most pressing energy and environmental challenges, including updating our electrical infrastructure for the energy demands of the 21st century.
Mark joined GE in 1997 as part of the Company's Commercial Leadership Program. Since then, he has held a variety of marketing, quality and sales roles in GE's Industrial Systems and Energy businesses with a specific focus on the transmission and distribution utility segment. In 2004, he was named Regional Sales Director for the Transmission & Distribution business in North America (now called Digital Energy). He then moved on to the role of Global Sales Leader for GE's Energy Rentals business. In 2007, he was named General Manager of Global Sales for the T&D business, prior to taking on his current role in 2009.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut. He and his family live in Atlanta, Georgia.
